I decided to do another round up article, this time focusing on the 39 best free softphones. Again I have tried not to include anything that you can't download and use simply by clicking on a link. If you need to register for an account or if the software is crippled in terms of usage time I haven't included it. There are a couple of softphones which are lite versions of commercial pieces of software (by not including wideband/g729 etc) but this is understandable as you need to pay a licensing fee for g729.
