Make sure you have created a battery save (in-game save menu savefile) Try renaming the.dsv save file located at /Library/Application Support/OpenEmu/DeSmuME/Battery Saves/ To match the name of your new ROM file. For example if the old ROM were named SoulSilver.nds, the.dsv would be named SoulSilver.dsv Whatever the new file is named, change the name of the.dsv to match it. So if it were 'Soul Silver (USA).nds' you would rename the.dsv file to 'Soul Silver (USA).nds'.
